International Day against homophobia

The international day against homophobia and transphobia (IDAHO) is celebrated each year on 17. It is coordinated by the headquarters in Paris, “the Committee IDAHO“, founded and chaired by French academic Louis-Georges Tin. The day aims to coordinate international events to garner support for respect for the rights of lesbians and gays from all over the world.

May 17 was chosen as the day of the event because homosexuality was removed from the classification international of diseases of the world of Health Organization (WHO) on May 17, 1990.
