The Committee for Tourism and Conventions reports that the number of gay visitors to Tijuana will spike during the week of the Pride festivities. Acceptance of gay visitors has become more widespread as the positive impact of those visitors is seen. Tourism in Tijuana has increased by 8 percent this year over last.

Each year community leaders and activists join in the march against homophobia.
The Tijuana march will take place on Sunday May 17, beginning at Second and Negrete (see map below).
On May 15-17 a community engagement and educational event will be held at the Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura (IMAC) at the corner of 2nd (Benito Juárez) and Constitución in Zona Centro. The program will include live music and a short film.
Topics for discussion include:
– Struggles against homophobia
– Advances in Mexico
– Cultural activism

Due to construction on 2nd street (calle Segundo) the parade route will be different than prior years.

The festival location is about a 10-15 minute walk from the San Ysidro (San Diego) border crossing or a taxi ride for about $5 USD.
